Yes, past their us-by date. Many of the buildings in West Ealing, at least, and one could include Southall, Hanwell, and Ealing, Broadways, together with Acton High Street, are clapped out. Subsidence, lack of maintenance, and age renders those buildings obsolete, and possibly dangerous. Very few of those buildings have any architectural merit. In fact I would challenge anyone to suggest a building, which would have to be demolished, that would be worth retaining. It's interesting that the building line along Uxbridge Road in Ealing is set well back except for the shopping sections. |
