I've found out what trolley buses are and if I were building a new town, and money were no object i, I'd make room for them but I'd also make wide cycle lanes and car lanes but this is the uxbridge road, and there's no spare money. Far, far cheaper to improve bus stops, make space (where possible) to pull bus stops off roads. I dont know anyone thats bothered by a bit of vibration at the lights, more bothered about buses running on time, which would happen if parking in bus lanes etc was stopped (any ideas?). Many people dont feel safe on buses this wouldn't change if it were trams or trolley buses. No amount of investment will entice people to leave there cars at home if they dont want to, in many cases it's just not practical to use public transport. I really think there is scope to improve what we've already got and thats what we should do. |
