I entirely agree that transport authorities and providers should first concentrate on getting the basics right - and making sure they STAY right - not least basic amenities and civilised waiting conditions for passengers at bus stops - as you point out. Unfortunately this doesn't happen because that's far too boring and mundane for the so-called 'professionals' concerned - they much prefer playing with grandiose fantasy megaprojects like the Uxbridge Road tram scheme - same applies to all too many of the local and regional politicians concerned too. And successive generations of our esteemed elected local councillors here have consistently demonstrated that they completely lack the gumption and diligence to vigorously pursue TfL's gross dereliction in such matters, even when pressed to do so by local residents. Re modern trolleybuses and trolleyroutes check out the website of the pro-trolley Electric Tbus Group (a group of knowledgeable and concerned individuals - including One's Good Self - not a commercial company) www.tbus.org.uk. For an Uxbridge Road corridor-specific and informative website (albeit some facts have ben overtaken by events) David Bradley has already drawn attention here to the Trolleybuses for West London site www.tfwl.org.uk |
