As I said earlier, I have come from an area where the trnsport was adequate but limited to an area where there is plenty of transport. I, too have a car but rarely use it as I rely on the public transport system here. I do not drive to work as it would be silly to do so being in the centre of London. The only time I do use my car is if I am visiting my family or going to a store on one of the industrial estates. I may well have got trolleybuses and the trams in Blackpool muddled up but they surely run on the same principle, one being more up to date than the other. Are you for scrapping buses entirely? They are all in the process of becoming "green" with low emissions etc - they are quite comfortable too although some do have the seating numbers reduced. How long would it take for this scheme to get up and running and more importantly how much inconvenience would it cause road users whilst things were set up? Then of course there is the total cost involved. |
