I am calm! - just addressing all the points you put as best and concisely as can! I'm afraid most (though not all) fellow professionals I come across or have worked with in the past are pretty (or completely) ignorant of trolleybuses and their benefits - of course the younger generations never knew them - as didn't many of the older generation that didn't happen to live in or visit trolley towns or cities. And even thjose that did knoe them first-hand don't be able to get their head round the idea that the rest of the world has moved on in the last half century and the modern trolley systems are a vast improvement on what we had here in that era. There's also the problem of vested interest, particularly among some commercial transport consultants, that trolleybus schemes create a great deal less lucrative design and implementation work than equivalent tramway schemes, and are also seen by some as less glamorous - it can be glorious fun (as well as profitable) to a certain professional mentality to be drawing up lots or railway lines in the streets on digitised cad plans at somebody else's expense. |
