We are now in the sixth consecutive loss making quarter - the worst national economic record ever recorded for this country. Our National Debt could reach £1 trillion by Christmas. We have 1 million young people unemployed. We have 1 million empty homes. Now is not the time to be building a £17+ billion transport infrastructure which will allow hedge fund managers, investment bankers and derivatives salespeople to travel at speed from Maidenhead to Canary Wharf without having to change trains. What specific value will Crossrail deliver to the majority of the 240,000 adults who live in Ealing? Because of the prolonging Depression less people will travel on the tube and the trains into/out of London and to and from Heathrow - so crowding at peak times is/will be reduced. Peak Oil will significantly and consistently raise the price of oil/energy so people will travel less - on planes, cars and trains. Peak Oil will force us to come to terms with our addiction to oil. |
