It's certainly expensive, but it ain't going to be that shiny, particularly out here - just a modest increase in the existing local service frequency on the existing line, even more modest 'improvements' to the existing stations, and a few more destinations directly served, many of which few people out here will often or ever need or want to go to. From a west London point of view there's a lot more useful local rail and other public transport improvements that money could be put to, which would spread the benefits much more widely and equitably. As a Northerner I consider it an outrage that once again London hogs the bulk of the country's public transport investment resources. |
