Oh and while you're at it, three others just in South Ealing alone:- 1) The southbound stop outside St Mary's Church, on a particularly narrow bit of footway - has never had any shalter, seating or other meaningful passenger facilities. 2) The newish northbound stop between Lothair Road and Church Lane - again on a fairly narrow footway, nowhere near any pedestrian crossing, and without shelter, seating or other amenities - replaced former more sensibly located stop opposite St Mary's Church (which was similarly bereft of basic facilities). 3) The northbound stop north of Beaconsfield Road, which has a shelter and seating but which are far enough away from the stop to make the more mobility-impaired punters miss the bus if the driver wants to pretend he didn't see them - this the result of some idiot Labour Councillor (since departed, hopefully forever) who admitted to getting the stop moved away from the shelter so the stop-and-shop short-stay car parking bays could be a close as possible to the local shops there to minimise invonvenience to motorists (who would otherwise have had to walk a few yards from their cars) at the expense of bus travellers. I'll feed others to you elsewhere in the borough when I log them on my travels (by car) in next few days or weeks. Of course all these and most other bus stops in the borough still lack Countdown or other real-time bus arrival displays, which should be regarded as an essential basic provision at ANY urban bus stop anywhere. Why should anybody with a choice of travel mode use buses when they're given no idea when (or if) their bus is going to appear? BTW I don't need to be told who and what EPTUG are. But how can you be sure that EPTUG truly 'reflects the needs of local people', rather than just pursuing its' members' pet hobby-horses? |
