I repeat: Has EPTUG done 'passenger surveys' of the many luckless bus punters at unsheltered and seatless bus stops, or indeed lifted a finger to do anything about such barbaric travel conditions? Getting that right, and keeping it right, should come before more interesting and glamorous matters as new routes, bus or rail. It's now SEVEN YEARS since I repeatedly raised this matter in the South Ealing context but with more general reference at the former Ealing Area Committee and other Council committees, and NOTHING has been done. That should tell any of us all we need to know about Ealing Council and Transport for London. The Conservative membership of the EAC then includes many current Conservative Councillors (I was told they were 'grateful' for my raising the matter - which of course meant exactlty the opposite - they'd much rather we kept our mouths shut and stopped bothering them, which is why they abolished the Area Committees as soon as they could) and but none of them have bothered to pursue this well-documented matter since they got into power. As I said, the authorities, including Ealing Council couldn't give a toss about bus travellers. So it's not 'doubtful' but a proven certainty that Ealing Council not only can not improve transport but has no will to even try. As for 'you are a total waste of space' and 'Sun reading scumbags', that sort of mindless abuse contrasts pitifully with well-founded and so-far unrefuted criticism the other way. [FYI I don't read the Sun, or any other London paper except occasionally; only the electronic web edition of the Daily Mail (the Hull one, not the London one). I get my national/international news digest from Radio 4 and the Box, but not as a substitute for thinking for myself]. |
