"The point about Crossrail is that *it has a cost/benefit ratio > 1*, which means it wastes money *not* building it, at the moment. I know this is a difficult concept for the hard of thinking but it's difficult to fund thing like step-free if you've just metaphorically stabbed yourself in the wallet by cancelling Crossrail and thus effectively foreclosed any economic expansion in London because the public transport system won't cope, which means you can't afford any investment in the system any more." - well, my economic appraisal of that little outburst is that it's absolutely priceless, if only for its entertainment value. I probably know as much about CBA as you do, and like the bible and the koran (to name but a few) it can be made so say whatever the user wants it to. (eg just look back at TfL's ludicrously twisted CBA on the Uxbridge Road tramway and the alternatives such as a trackless trolleyroute). Sorry but I just don't buy the relentless propaganda by one faction of the London Supremacist movement that Xrail is the key to making all our dreams come true. High time to slaughter this sacred cow, distribute the meat to the poor and needy, and - to coin a phrase - move on, preferably in a more appropriate direction. |
