The Trouble with Ealing is that whilst the Tram deabte was going on the Main line services were being decimated. In reality FGW would want to not only close the Greenford line but also stop Trains stopping at Hanwell and West Ealing because they can not get enough long distance people through from Marlow, Maidenhead, Oxford etc paying big season tickets. So LBE needs to take a pro-active approach to Transport and not be so defeatist about what can be done. As a Stakeholder Ealing should dictate the agenda and not feed off scraps from Crossrail, TFL and Network Rail. Yes Britain is in a mess, but Crossrail has had big money already spent and shows that London can still do big projects. For me I will go from Hanwell to Bond Street and walk from there to work for a year before I retire. However Ealing as a borough will need better services in the next 2 years to support us being able to use Crossrail as the level of services in the Borough will be set at the level that it has before Crossrail starts. The key benefit is reduced Journey Time which brings Hanwell, Southall, West Ealing and Ealing in easy commuting distance from Canary Wharf etc.. |
