Deafening silence from all you Xrail enthusiasts about the summary INDEFINITE cancellation of passenger access lifts at Greenford and other seriously accessibility-deficient stations in west London. See front page news item on this site, and new thread started by Stephen Pound MP. This sort of thing is exactly why I so strongly oppose the Xrail project - it's soaking up all the money and attention which should be going on the provision of such essential BASIC facilities onn the existing network. But the London mayor and TfL continue to plough on with the monstrous Xrail project despite claiming they can't afford a handful of access lifts on the EXISTING tube network. Thus Xrail and its promoters and supporters deliver a DOUBLE kick in the guts to Greenford and then FGW Greenford branch punters - not only their current train service permanently cut back to West Ealing entirely because of Xrail, but their sorely-needed and outrageously long-delayed station access facility scrapped. Time for a re-think of your gushy enthusiasm for Xrail, Councillors Millican, Stacey and others? - and time to get your little heads from under the bedclothes and face the issues publicly on this forum? |
