Oh dear Gareth, you must think all of us as just concerned, informed grown-ups.... Crossrail? Our National Debt is over £800 billion. We have the biggest 2010 funding gap (as % of GDP) of any country in the world (£180 billion). We are in our fifth consecutive quarter of economic decline. We still have over 30% of all the personal debt in Europe. As a country we are more at risk of losing our AAA credit rating than any other developed country in the world. £17 billion (and the rest ) for Crossrail - you are having a laugh. 'The best connected suburb in London?' Hmmm Connected to what exactly? Investment in what exactly? '...shiniest, most expensive....' - oh dear again. Where do you live Gareth? No I don't think that per se Crossrail if it's built will make Ealing a 'better place to live in'. On the positive front, I really like The Beatles, steam trains, cast-iron lampposts; playing tennis, the Premier Peking restaurant in The Avenue, the death of globalisation; and learning to live locally and sustaining my own existence locally. |
