Nigel, The trigger point for a debate at the next council meeting is 1,500. We already have this as we have going on for 1,000 signatures on paper with a large number of residents groups enthusiastically collecting signatures along with the local Tories. Andy makes a good point about the next local elections but it is not until May 2014 that Ealing residents will get the chance to change their council's leadership. Along with the libraries decision the garden tax will be seen as one of the many nails in their political coffin. More than 8,000 people signed the libraries petitions and made the Labour council rethink. We would like to get at least 3,000 signtatures on the garden tax petition so that the Labour council really gets the message. They have U-turned before and this would be another sensible U-turn for them. |
