EPS can take up to 400 years to break down in seawater, longer when buried. It will never truly biodegrade. Google styrofoam biodegredation to see the research. It's not even a great insulator unless encapsulated in non-inert materials because of the fire risk. Fibreglass is self-extinguishing as is wool fleece. Polystyrene is simply a pain. |
