www.streetbank.com sounds interesting as it is local community based Hounslow used to run Give & Take days at their Reuse & Recycling sites There used to be a similar stall at Acton Market Someone who sends stuff out in the post/courier may be happy to take it off you - especially with Christmas coming, or someone about to move www.recyclethis.co.uk; www.therubbishdiet.com; myzerowaste.com are all interesting and helpful Getting the (our )Council to have a really clear website and to advertise it is very important. Our rubbish is a resource. How it is managed is important so if anything isn't clear we should be asking questions. We need a website that works for us not just a pretty one. We need to be able to print off info to give to our next-door neighbour who doesn't have the internet. Succinct clear info - not lots of half or quarter pages. One Man's Trash is another Man's Treasure which is why ebay is so successful - not only can you sell odd things but you can also ask for odd things - eg the missing piece from something - so that you can fix it. Just buying vacuum cleaner bags on the internet for someone without the internet can mean that they don't bin their perfectly serviceable vacuum cleaner. So who - no how many - of our Councillors is/are brave enough to do the Morland Sanders recycling test? Children in Need is getting closer... |
