The degradable pink bags (photodegradable I think so had to be kept in a closed drawer away from light) were very thin. They are being used for leaves by the street cleaners now and suit leaves well. I think I may still have a couple of them. You could wreck them just trying to get a bit of bramble in or twigs. You can get something to hold the bag open while you fill it which protects it but I never bothered. I used to have to walk miles and make such an effort to collect them from the Town Hall or the library - both places that weren't open when I got back from work ie they weren't easily accessible and that was a major reason for them not taking off as an idea. Also people didn't know how or where to get them from. The pink/orange bags came with a message to keep them indoors when not in use as well - as did the white sacks. Rolled up in an upturned green box seems to work well though. |
