I use those wiggly shapes used for packing material as drainage in garden containers. If you're just putting in bedding plants why fill the whole pot with compost? The only problem is that the pot can be a bit top heavy and blow over in which case put a brick or similar in the bottom first. Suggest doing this inside the shed or greenhouse as the stuff ends up blowing everywhere. You can also use polystyrene to line pots before filling them with compost for a bit of insulation or wedge it around pots left outside for the winter. |
