Oh dear, and I thought the environment and how we treat it was too important a subject for politics ("These are people's lives we are talking about", etc., etc). I predict a concretefest as those who are too broke, stingy or lazy to maintain a garden and pay the charge contribute to the run off problems that mean we need a super sewer. Somehow I don't think many will rush to the planning department to report them. I wonder if the increased amount of rain water with nowhere to go will be equivalent to that caused a certain high speed rail link? If you're going to do this then why don't you sort out community composting, as proposed by Ealing Transition, and similar initiatives first? It's like telling people to stop using their cars without bothering to put in adequate public transport first. |
