I am glad this is making so much debate. I walk, cycle and drive, and I can tell you cyclist have it much harder. There really is no place for cyclists on the road, you take your chances - I had my knuckles smashed by a car mirror last week when there was clearly room on the road. The edge of the road is pitted with poorly fitted drains and pot holes. Highway code? when it was written there weren't stopping points so close - it doesn't hurt your knees to push the gas pedal down! Why do I go before the light turns green at a junction - to avoid being knocked off by a left turning car. Cyclist don't go out to flout the law they are just adapting to a harsh environment. |
