An update on the status of my ongoing dispute with Park Direct, caused due to parking on a single occasion in one of the bays outside Ealing Broadway tube station late one evening whilst collecting my daughter from a Guides trip. Having ignored Park Direct's demands for a charge, I've now had two letters from Debt Recovery Plus, one dated 12/06 and the most recent 27/06, stating that I need to pay £149 by 11/07 or my "case will be passed to the creditor's solicitor to commence court proceedings". Its my intention to carry on ignoring their threats purely because all along I've found their entire method of operation underhand and the issue of a "parking charge" under my circumstances unreasonable. It states on the latest letter "Please note that if the case goes to court and you are ordered to pay the parking charge, we may seek to recover additional amounts from you as well as the parking charge. Those amounts would be court fees of £15, solicitor's costs of £50 and interest of 8% per annum." As a matter of principle there's no way I am voluntarily going to pay these people £149 and at the risk, if losing, of paying £65 more I'm happy to take the court option, should they desire to do so. |
