David, I can explain. Acton Town is actively enforced by the council's Parking Services people. If you go to the parking section of the council's website you can see the stats here: http://www.ealing.gov.uk/services/transport_and_streets/parking/ The latest figures (for July) showed that we used CCTV enforcement to give out 95 tickets outside Acton Town station in the month of July. 1 for parking in the taxi rank, 75 for parking on the bus stop, 7 for parking on the footpath and 12 for parking on the zebra crossing. Just to remind people that it is perfectly OK to pick up and drop off passengers on single and double yellow lines even where there are loading restrictions. It is not acceptable to block up bus stops and to endanger pedestrians on crossings. All of this is well explained in the Highway Code and in the council’s own parking guides delivered to homes last December and this summer. Unlike Park Direct this enforcement is transparent, accountable and fair with a proper system for appealing. |
