This is true and is what is the problem. On the one hand some people are saying that this event will bring a lot of revenue to local businesses - how so, if public transport and parking is affected? Those residents who have the misfortune to live in the areas where the only time they can leave their roads is before the event or after are grossly inconvenienced - are these the people who will be getting £50 from Sky in compensation? I am lucky enough that I do not live in one of these badly affected areas, but do feel that a bit more consultation especially for those in those affected areas, should have taken place. Perhaps a walkathon should take place as that is ultimately the greenest form of transport. |
