I haven't got time to read all the other posts prior to mine, so apologies if what I say here has been mentioned by others. Local businesses will be looking forward to seeing an extra 20,000 people flooding into Ealing, West Ealing and Hanwell town centres on Sunday July 18th boosting the stretched local economy massively. There will be some inconvenience for local residents, but the gain will be worth the pain. More people on bikes makes cyclng safer for everyone. Drivers become more aware of cyclists, and when people convert to the bike rather than the dependency of the car there are less cars on the road. Ealing Council offers cycle training for a fiver....if you haven't taken advantage of doing this then you really should. I really hope that the Skyride does introduce more and more people to the health benefits of cycling, whilst offering everyone the opportunity to discover lovely Ealing in a safe and enjoyable environment, and hopefully drive down the dependency of the car. I am pretty confident as can be that the day is going to be great event for everyone – no matter what age or cycling ability - to experience the joy of cycling on a car free route and celebrate the cleanest, greenest, easiest way of getting about town. |
