"Goodness knows whether it will happen next year....must be dpendent on quite how much public money goes into it and whether it is seen as worth it." Um, the plan is to hold them regularly in outer London boroughs, last year's was in Brentford/Isleworth. This year there's also one in Redbridge. It's a major plank of the Mayor's cycling strategy. Also, not entirely coincidentally, major local employer and British cycling's major sponsor Sky get an opportunity to buy a lot of cheapish publicity - I suspect that one of the reasons for a small part of West London being chosen for the first two, other than the Mayor's transport advisor being a local, is proximity to Sky who supply a lot of the staffing from staff volunteers). |
