Quite unbelievably the Council web site has gone kaput again! I don't know whether to laugh or cry. The world's first stored programme computer ran the first stored programme at Manchester University on 21st June 1948. In 1989 Tim Berners-Lee (whose parents worked on the Manchester University project) invented the World Wide Web. Here we are in Ealing 51 years after modern computing was born and 20 years after web sites were conceived and Ealing's IT folks can't get it all to work. Methinks some Northern computer/web geeks need to be shipped down from Lancashire to sort all this out. Ample supplies of Black Puddings, Lancashire Hotpot and Meat and Potato pies - all washed down with pints of Boddingtons - will keep them fed and watered. |
