There were all sorts of hoo haa over this. Roadworks complicated the matter, and the new school. the council report I saw said overall flows had actually reduced, up one way, but down the other way. I'm not suggesting it was malign, although it did of course create a lot of danger in what was LTN21 that wasn't there when LTN21 was in place. >As I see it, the worst he can be accused of is opportunistically using the LTN issue to gain power I think that's probably what's happened here. They've been spooked by One Ealing and the like, this has been used by promising the right people to take LTNs out to gain their favour. It was made clear VERY early on that councils that took stuff out had to pay back the money and wouldn't get further funding, this is all in the original statutory guidance from last year. |
