That is possibly true. The alternative could have been to suspend the scheme rather than scrap it altogether but leaving it operational was never an option as the pressure on the access roads that remained would have been too great. The issue Ealing's transport department had to deal with was that Hounslow were complaining about the displaced traffic. Their fear was that the closure of access to Sywncombe Road would have been made permanent and that any gains from LTN 21 would have been wiped out. |
