At our ward forum in Hobbayne last night, a recycling officer tried to explain to us how the new plastics recycling box would work. This was not easy for her to do or for us to listen to as it just got dafter by the second. This was in no way the officers fault. Apparently it comes with a seperate hair net, which the resident has to attach themselves to stop the plastics blowing all over the place. So next year we will go from a system that works really well with people who participate because it is easier to do so than it has been for many years to a system where the plastic recycling box will be harder for residents to use and easier for the refuse collectors to break. Where residents are forced to use a recycling wheelie bin, which by the way is the councils preference, they do not want you having the sacks and will not make that easy for you. It will be harder to participate, more expensive for you with the £40 charge and after spending several hundred thousand on setting this up, it will not deliver the savings promised. Cllr Mahfouz, you're talking rubbish and as usual it will have to be paid for by the rest of us |
