Why would garden waste need to be in a wheelie bin anyway? We don't have room for one for residual waste. What we need is attention paid to making sure that the people who need help organising and separating their waste get it; new movers-in get information and equipment - landlords and estate agents should take some responsibility and so should universities/colleges; people who put their waste out too early and unprotected and on the pavement are warned; planning permission should include amenity space for bins which must be maintained... Those of us who make best use of the Council facilities provided for waste and recycling now have what has become an increasingly good system. |
