Agreed. What will happen now is: * increase in fly-tipping (the council seems to be in denial about this) * polluting trips to the tip in a car * garden waste put in the general waste which all results in ... * less revenue than they expect. Then, typical of this Labour council, they then have to decide what to do, and come to the conclusion that they will punish people via fines if they don't do what they are told. The current system works well. It doesn't say much for the current council negotiation skills to keep the good value we are getting today. The justification is that it is unfair to subsidise the collection if you don't have a garden. Fine then - then I don't drive into Southall, so want no part of paying the £5 million for a unneeded parking lot Labour is planning to build that I would never use. And as another forum poster has said ... I don't have children, so count me out of the education precept. |
