The key many people do not understand in this thread is that the library staff that would be replaced will be lower paid in general. so whilst the council keeps higher paid staff then a lot of low to medium pay staff lose their jobs so affecting their families. The council wastes a lot of money on expensive expertise. i.e. a friend is in dispute over her hosuing benefit. but the amount spent by the council in not paying it is probably far more than what they would have spent in carrying out their promise to pay it. they are getting lawyers to look into it so that they do not have to pay. some of those 60 or so lawyers employed by the council. this is why they need to shed these library jobs so that they can keep these lawyers!!! |
