I regard your view as narrow and politically-correct. For David Cameron's Big Society to function we have to get real. I want Northfields Libary to survive and as per David Cameron's I would expect to get stuck in issuing books, putting them back on their shelves. You don't actually need a degree in Library Science to do this. If we want anything left of Ealing in a few years as this depression strings along we are all going to have to chip in. To me it is a no-brainer that if we can keep these libraries open with real vounteers (not some hamstrung stroy group reader) when real jobs are lost than we are doing good things. To close a library down because of union demarkation lines over volunteers is a sad and stupid state of afairs! L.B. |
