| Fully agree. When I worked for a national charity one of the sources of income we investigated was the deployment of mobile telephony antenna in church bell towers. We got hit with all kinds of scaremongering 'facts' including that a particular type of neurological tumour had doubled in instance in an area where such an installation was planned. Much scaremongering revealed that it had indeed doubled from....one case to two and that both cases had moved into the area to be near a specialist treatment centre. This was my first exposure to clickbait scaremongering back in 1996 and if anything it has got worse. As the old saying rings ever truer, "Lies, damn lies and statistics". |
