| I would counter this by saying that people do 'give up'. I gave up, as did others in my family, as well as friends, colleagues and people I meet at work. We all live in the real world. To clarify, by 'give up' I mean found other means of travelling, commuting, getting from A to B which were easier, cheaper, quicker, or all three. It doesn't have to mean ditching the car completely, but in most cases it does, as no-one wants to pay for a vehicle you no longer use very much. In turn, it saves you money for emergency trips. Each to their own, of course, but 'giving up' is more common than you'd think. Especially among the younger generation. |
