| ‘A continuous road should not have a changeable speed limit every mile‘ Indeed, for unlike the national 30mph speed limit, which we all understand, 20mph limits can vary from one local authority to the next in an apparently arbitrary way on the same stretch of road. Then we have 20mph ‘limits’ and 20mph ‘zones’ with different and confusing signage, some with reminders on lampposts and some not. At least the Welsh universal 20mph limit was logical, though it did seem perverse that they scrubbed all the painted 20mph signs off their roads and took down the little reminder signs! Presumably to catch out English foreigners! |
