I've been using PAYG Oyster for some years and only once had a problem, after I had to use a manned exit at St Paul's and was charged for not having completed a journey, even though I'd used the reader at the manned exit. I got a refund when I complained. Use it properly and you shouldn't encounter many difficulties. Roll on the Freedom Pass, though, allowing that most of us will now have to wait till we're 66 to get one!
