| For me the common market was a great idea but the Maastricht treaty was when it changed from a group of common interest into a political project that is doomed. It is the political elite with their focus groups that have let us down by pandering to big business and corporate vanity. the crash of 2008, the current race to the bottom and the destruction of the middle classes are part of the agenda promoted by corporate interests that were not important for Blair, Cameron and co. The people have been forgotten in this race to please the corporations. Large scale immigration, tied to minimum wage and the gig economy has led to a race to the bottom. But the fat cats have got fatter!! In the EU the corporate lobbyists spend a lot of money so that they can poison us. luckily many MEP's still have a sense of morality, but sadly too many find the gifts too tempting. we see how Trump is creating a revolution that will screw totally the people that voted for him. |
