A couple of black plastic compost bins have appeared in what is euphemistically referred to as the rose garden. How do these fit in with the restoration of the park and manor to its historical origin? I do really wonder what is going to happen in Walpole Park and to Pitzhanger Manor when Ealing Council starts work on it. The heritage money is there to restore its historical veracity and I wonder if anyone has looked at what this means? The manor house was doubled in size when it was extended to house Ealings Central Library and the question is will the extensions be demolished, and will the lottery pay up if they are not removed. The fouontains too are new additions as are the concrete linings to the ponds, so again will the lottery pay up if the big pond is not resored to a clay-lined cattle pond. Furthemore, the park has many horsechestnuts and other mature trees that were not there when the manor house was built and occupied by Mr Soane, will those need to be cut down as well? Some food for thought. |
