The two fountains in Walpole Park Lake are slowly dying. The height of the northerly one is reducing and the southern one seems to have disappeared. Cursory inspection of the lake would suggest that the pump at the northern end is blocked with leaves. If it's not unblocked soon maybe the pump motor might burn out. If last year's antics are to be repeated, in a few week's time the power supply will be removed from the pump and used to drive the power for the Summer Festivals in the park. It would be appreciated by many if both fountains could be permanently re-instated so that they both function healthily throughout the year. Also BTW in case word has not reached you, the Council's bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for restoring Pitshanger Manor to the same pristine state when John Soane built it has, like the southern fountain, also died a death. |
