Having embarked on my own complaint against the Council and monitored three complaint procedures by other local residents, I can confirm Arthur's view that it is a long, frustrating and almost certainly fruitless journey. The whole process is also profoundly depressing. WEN and SEC are currently having slightly more success in trying to work with the Council rather than spending all our time pointing out and publicising Council incompetence, mean spiritedness and lack of responsiveness. However this forum provides a useful function in allowing anyone to blow off steam about deficiencies in our streets and our towns. We pay our Council money to maintain or possibly enhance our quality of life though the provision of public services. When these services fail we should try any reasonable means and devices to enable these services to be repaired. The Council's complaints service is broken and I perceive no willingnees or interst in the Council to repair it. So no amount of effort by individual residents will chnage this. Sad but true I feel. |
