Eric, This is an embarrassment to us all. Now summer is here the pumps stream/fountains in both ponds become more important because as temperatures rise the solubility of vital gases (oxygen) decreases. With no circulation, algal growth and organic detritus this makes the pond look and smell "stinky" but also opens up other possibilities some of which have public health implications. We have tried our best here and failed. And I believe Councillor Ann Chapman has sent many more emails than we have entries here. So top marks to her. Is it likely that the ponds are to be filled in with the rubble from the planned demolition of the more recent additions to the manor? Is that's what is happening? |
