The council ran a recycling rewards scheme that started last Septemebr and ran for 6 months.

They measured the participation rates of all 23 wards over 3 different collections dates by selecting 3 roads in each ward and counting how many people on each road used the councils recycling services.

They repeated the excercise in April and based on the results, the top ward with the highest participation rates gets a prize of £20,000, and the 3 wards with the most improved rates of participation get £20,000 each too.

See the results here, http://www2.ealing.gov.uk/services/environment/recycling/recycling_rewards/participation_results.html

Do people think this was a valuable excercise and value for money, or a gimmick that turned out to be a waste of money.

I'm trying not to steer this so I haven't said too much about the results.
