I meant remove the hard drives(s) and smash it(them) with a hammer - best done on the underside of the drive. Another alternative to destroying the data is a bulk erasure device which is basically a large electromagnet. They were used to clear 1/2 and 1/4 inch tape. Not a realistic solution. In any event it is best to remove the hard drive(s) from the computer. Even disposing of them, undamaged, separately in a refuse bag is preferable to leaving them in the machine as there is a high probability the drives will end up in land-fill unnoticed. |
