| I do not know what you mean by old, but I do use plenty of kit that some people call old, running Free Open Source Software can immediately double the effective speed, older memory and hard discs are getting more difficult to find and expensive to purchase. I normally test secondhand hard discs using a package that writes then reads at least three times over the entire disc surface before writing a new format, so nothing is left from the old data. I can use something like a Pentium I as a dedicated firewall, mailserver, or other relatively simple task. ps has anyone bothered to count the number of attempted and failed message submissions past about 100? |
