You are right. Too much of the council's money is spent on political causes (of which it is becoming apparent the rangers are one of these causes - they do not collect rubbish, they do not police or enact byelaws such as cycling, and their main function as highlighted by this forum seems to be community involvement and support of extraneous projects). What happened to good old-fashioned park keepers with their uniforms and peaked caps and their wooden poles with sharp metal spikes on the end to pick up rubbish (and strike fear into badly behaved children)? Ealing's parks (and open spaces which I guess includes allotments and sports areas by definition if the number of 100 is corrent as mentioned elsewhere in this forum) are a lamentable mess (in every sense of the word). The Labour Group has made a good choice here, however, it does leave one wondering how many other areas of Ealing's council workforce are engaged in tasks that are not core to the maintenance, upkeep, and development of Ealing, but rather a pseudo-political endeavour. |
