Housing Associations offer both renting and also shared ownership i.e. what we previosuly discussed namely buy a share eg. 50% and rent the rest eg 50% and you have the option to buy out the rest up to 100% ownership if you wish. But for a number of reasons shared ownership is not all it's cracked up to be and is ony good for those who really have no other option. Renting alone is good as I believe their rents are quite low. And there are certainly more than 2 housing associations. Not heard of elected groups of residents running them, may exist. The ones I know of are registered charities and must adhere to the Housing Corporation rules. |
