The pictures of Ealing were on the walls in the pub before it was closed. As someone who looks after buildings for a living, I know what squatters can do. On the very very odd occassion you get squatters who look after the property they are in, but in my experience in 95% of cases, squatters invariably destroy the interior. Many also illegally (and dangerously) re-instate unitlities, antagonise the neighbours and when and if they leave, leave absolute havoc, mountains of rubbish and thousands of pounds worth of damage in their wake. The problem is so bad that most insurance companies now insist that property owners carry out inspections on at least a weekly basis for empty property - great for the company I work for as it brings in additional fees but not ideal for our clients. |
