Where land and property are at a premium, failure to use land/property can in some countries/situations lead to loss of rights to the land/property. In this country if you rent an allotment and don't use/cultivate the plot, after a time the allotment is taken away from you and given to someone else to use/cultivate. Now how about the unused old BBC car park next to Haven Green, the empty-for-years Villiers House, the empty Town Hall Extension, the old TVU building, the cleared land where the cinema once stood, and the cleared land where an economy hotel is promised but has seen no activity for months? It's a crying shame these buildings are unused and these spaces devoid of activity of any kind. Give charities the use of the buildings and turn the open spaces into car parks, skate board parks, basketball courts, play grounds etc, etc. It might just inject some communtiy life into the centre of Ealing |
