To a large extent I do agree with you. What is needed however is robust enforcement of current parking restrictions. This happened at Christ the Saviour Ealing on both sites where the parking wardens were having 'a field day' ticketing with absolutely no leniency at all showed to inconsiderate drivers. The only concession made was to parents who were dropping off mobility impaired children. The message of keep clear or walk the final two to three hundred metres soon got over and was further consolidated by the implementation of a single School Street to serve The Grove site. Most of the journeys made, given Fielding's very limited catchment area are well under a mile. Has CCTV enforcement of parking been considered I wonder. Properly implemented school streets are a damned good idea save they wouldn't be needed at all if not for inconsiderate, often incompetent, drivers. |
